SPC flooring became the most popular indoor flooring since its appearance. It is easy to install and price is reasonable, so it take a big market of flooring quickly.
It seems SPC flooring is already at the top of its lifetime. What’s the future trend of SPC flooring? And how shall we improve the SPC on next step?
SPC flooring is known as eco-friendly. Because it is recyclable and formaldehyde-free. But there is still a big space for SPC flooring to improve on this. Yes, SPC flooring is recyclable, but the recycled material will influence the SPC flooring dimensional stability, and there may be heavy metal during the take back period. What’s more we need take a lot of time and cost to take back the flooring after use. So the percentage of take back is very small. At the same time, PVC is hard to be decomposed, it may take hundreds or thousands years. And some developed countries or cities already make policy to limit the use of PVC. So the future SPC flooring should be PVC free, or use degradable PVC to replace the normal PVC material.
Now, many brands already promote MGO flooring or mineral core flooring, like Shaw and Trioflor, but the price are still pretty high. As we all know, SPC popularity mostly cased by it’s economical price, so if MGO or mineral core flooring want to replace SPC flooring, the cost must get lower. Only most people can accept it, it can be hot-sale.
As for the degradable PVC, only a few factory start to try, but the stability is still need to test in a long term.
