The Importance of Mineral Core Flooring
In 2020 and beyond, mineral core flooring will be a serious focus for manufacturers, distributors, and designers. Since 2019, there has been a notable uptick in higher-cost SPC.
The numbers continue to climb, along with the popularity of this flooring option. In the last report of SPC’s growth showed a 68.3% increase in residential square footage and a 12.5% increase in commercial use.
Truly, SPC designs are making their mark. However, consider the environmental hazards and instability of plastics, and you’ll find an industry game-changer: mineral core flooring.
But, beyond the numbers, there’s always more to understand and explore. So, let’s talk about the “why” behind our support for mineral core options.
What does it look like?
As you’ll see below, mineral core flooring is as beautiful as it is strong. With the authentic appeal of hardwood and the strength of stone, mineral core is the definition of “next generation” when it comes to flooring innovation.
What are the major benefits of mineral core flooring?
Let us count the ways! Mineral core is 100% waterproof and is a great fit for any space. It has large coverage potential, with the ability to reach up to 900 sq. mt. without the use of transitions. The mineral core minimizes telegraphing and the installation is quick and simple. It is also able to stand up to the heat – literally. Mineral core was heated up to 176° F and has the proven ability to revert back to its normal size.
1. Superior dimensional stability, NO need expansion jonints. Mineral core board ensure that the floor has a higher stability, to improve resistance to changes in temperature.
2. Kids & Pet Friendly. Super anti-scratch, super abrasion resistant. AC4/AC5 wear resistence.
3. It is 100% waterproof and perfect for areas that often see spills, such as kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms.
4. Non PVC, Chlorine free. More ECO-Friendly.
How is it different from other flooring options?
There are two, notable differences between mineral core and LVT/SPC. One is that it is made of SiO and wood powder, rather than the traditional PVC that LVT/SPC calls for. The second major difference (and plus) is that there are 0 plasticizers in mineral core material, making it much more stable and stronger overall. The third is that it 100% degradable, will not take any bad effect to the environment.
